The PGA Tour is back from the trip to Scotland and is heading to Minnesota for the 3M Open. With the last major championship completed, full attention on the PGA Tour now turns to the Tour Championship.
With just 3 events left before the Tour Championship begins, everyone outside of the top-125 are trying to get as many FedEx Cup points as possible.

More LIV Defections
More PGA Tour members are rumored to be defecting to the LIV Golf Series, a few of which are in the field this week.
Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama, and Rickie Fowler are in the field for the 3M Open but are also being actively courted by the LIV Golf Series.
Henrik Stenson was just announced as signed to LIV, which will lead to him being stripped of his Ryder Cup captaincy.
The newly minted Champion Golfer of the World, Cam Smith is also rumored to be heading to LIV Golf. He was pressed about the rumor during the press conference after the won the Open Championship.
Cam’s answer didn’t do much to squash the rumors. Nor did he give the full throat-ed denunciation of LIV that the other top players who have shunned the new rival league have done.
At this point even Rory McIlroy has changed his tune, and has called for the top brass at the PGA Tour to take Greg Norman’s call.
We’ll now see how Jay Monahan navigates the upheaval to golf’s current ecosystem.
Players To Watch
Tony Finau
Tony is coming off of a T28 finish at the Open Championship the final major of the year. Finau’s final round of 64 was one of the best of the day.
The only missed cut for Finau in the 2nd quarter of 2022 came at the U.S. Open at The Country Club. Outside of the understandable missed cut at the major championship Tony has made 9 out of his last 10 cuts after missed a few cuts to start the wrap around season.
#17 in the Official World Golf Rankings, and 30th in the FedEx Cup Rankings, Tony will not be one of those sweating on the 125 cut line of the Tour Championship as many entrants will be this week.
However, at 11-1 odds Finau is the favorite to win this week at TPC Twin Cities which will bring a different type of pressure.
After a great stretch of golf with a slight discount for the U.S. Open missed cut Tony should be the favorite this week to win.
Sahith Theegala
Sahith Theegala continued his rookie of the year season with a T-36 finish at the Open Championship.
In the field due to the withdrawal of Daniel Berger, Sahith came painfully close to qualifying for the Open Championship by winning the Travelers Championship.
Leading the tournament entering the 72nd hole at the Travelers, Sahith double bogeyed the final hole to finish in 2nd place.
It felt appropriate that Sahith receive the spot vacated by Berger in the Open Championship field.
Cam Champ
Champ was not in the field at the Open Championship and is currently on the outside looking in at the Tour Championship. Cam is currently ranked 157th on the FedEx Cup Rankings.
A streak of 5 missed cut is what Cam is out to break this week, and after winning this event last year it’s within reason that he could be near the top of the leader-board this week.
Cam won last years edition of the event with 4 rounds in the 60s which was the only time he did that last season.
Hopefully Champ will be able to rekindle the his eye for this course in this year’s event.
Joseph Bramlett
Bramlett was not in the field for the Open Championship but was still playing in a PGA Tour event. Joseph was in the field for the Barracuda Championship and finished T-39
