The PGA Tour returns from Mexico and is in Texas for the 8th event of the season.
Starting in 1946, this year’s event will be the 75th edition of the Houston Open.
Three of the last four event winner will not be in the field as they have joining LIV Golf and were subsequently suspended by the PGA Tour. Jason Kokrak won last years event, Carlos Ortiz won in 2020, and Ian Poulter won in 2018.
This year’s Houston Open received a $900k bump in prize money, thanks to the recent revisions made to the PGA Tour.
The field this year will vie for a total purse of $8.4 million up from $7.5 million in 2021. The winner will take home $1.512 million, up from $1.35 million in 2021.
Cadence Bank signed on as corporate sponsor for the 2022 event. Previous corporate sponsors include Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2021, and Vivent in 2020.
For the 2018 and 2019 events there was no corporate sponsor.
Shell sponsored the event from 1992 to 2017.

Tony Finau
This will be Tony’s 7th trip to Texas for the Houston Open. His best finishes in Houston were 24th place in 2018 and 2020.
Tony missed the cut last week in his first appearance of the 2022-2023 season when the PGA Tour visited Mexico for the 1st of two events south of the boarder this season.
Finau is currently 15th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Sahith Theegala
This will be Sahith’s 2nd trip to Texas for the Houston Open. His 1st trip in 2021 resulted in a made cut and a 61st place finish.
Sahith has competed in 4 event in the 2022-2023 season, resulting in 3 cuts made and two top-10 finishes.
Cam Champ
This will be Cam’s 2nd time entering the Houston Open. His 1st appearance was in 2019, and finished in 23rd place.
Cam has missed the cut in three of the four tournaments he’s entered in the 2022-2023 season. His lone made cut was at the ZOZO Championship. He landed in the top-1o in Japan finishing in 8th place.
Joseph Bramlett
This will be Joseph’s 4th time in the field for the Houston Open. His best finish was 42nd place back in 2011.
In five events so far in this new season Joseph has made the cut 3 times. His best finish was T12 at the Fortinet Championship.
