The 2nd leg of the FedEx Cup is in Delaware for the BMW Championship.
The top 70 players in FedEx Cup points have come to Wilmington to compete for the one of the 30 spots final spots in East Lake for the Tour Championship.
Will Zalatoris broke through his winless drought to collect his first PGA Tour win at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The 2nd year PGA Tour member has flirted with the hoisting a trophy several times this season, including 2nd place finishes at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.
Tiger’s Rally
Tiger woods despite not playing this week in the FedEx Cup playoffs flew to to Delaware to meet with some of the top players in response to the threat to the PGA Tour from the LIV Golf intrusion on their turf.
With the potential exodus of the #2 player in the OWGR and reigning Champion Golfer of the Year, Cam Smith to the LIV Golf Series, the coincidence of the meeting organized by Woods seems slim.
Woods’ rally of the remaining top players to remain faithful to the PGA Tour comes in the wake of news that Tiger turned down $700-$800 million to join the LIV Golf Series.
Smith’s departure would represent the highest ranked player to defect to the LIV Golf Series if he does leave the PGA Tour.
Smith has withdrawn from this week’s BMW Championship citing a lingering hip injury.

Players to Watch
Tony Finau
Finau has finally cooled off after winning back-to-back weeks on the PGA Tour. Tony finished T5 in last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.
He was in contention to the end despite a bogey on the final hole to put him four shots back of the leaders that went to the playoff.
Sahith Theegala
Theegala finished T-13 at the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoff race. Three solid rounds in the 60s who Sahith’s good form entering the 2nd playoff round.
Sahith is currently 28th in the FedEx Cup points which would secure his spot in the 30 top that will proceed onto to the Tour Championship
Harold Varner III
HV3 has missed the cut in his last two events entering the 2nd leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. He is currently 67th on the FedEx Cup Rank, and needs a good showing this week to move into the top 30 that will proceed onto the Tour Championship.
