The last chance to make the Open Championship, the Scottish Open will feature one of the strongest field short of a Major Championship.
One of the results of the new strategic alliance between the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour was a united front to the threat of the new LIV Golf Tour. The co-sanctioning also led to the DP World Tour following the lead of the PGA Tour by banning the PGA and DP World Tour players that defected to LIV from participating in the Scottish Open, as was as any remaining co-sanctioned event.
The 16 players the DP World Tour suspended requested an injunction for them to participate in the Scottish Open.
Three of the players: Ian Poulter, Adrian Otaegui, and Justin Harding, were granted injunctive relief and will be in the field for the Scottish Open.
Despite already being qualified many of the top players in the world are in the field this week compared to years past, partly due to the need to support the strategic alliance between the two tours as well as to get the last opportunity to tune up on a course with conditions similar to what will be faced at St. Andrews for the Open Championship.
