Harold Varner III is 9-under par and just a shot behind the leader Anibhir Lahiri. Also in a tie for second place after nine holes after play was suspended due to darkness on Sunday night.
Prior to play being called Varner played an excellent iron shot from the fairway that hooked around several tree. The shot landed on the green and rolled to within inched of the hole which Varner tapped in for birdie.
Despite playing well HV3 misplaced his pullovers and had to grab a replacement from the pro shop.
Normally a Jordan brand athlete, Varner was sporting a blue Nike Players Championship pullover.
After torrential rain Thursday and Friday, the first round wasn’t completed until Saturday afternoon after several suspensions in play.
A Monday finished was was determined Friday afternoon when the tournament announced that the event would not be shortened.
Play will resume Monday morning at 8am.
