The PGA Tour is in Honolulu, Hawaii for the 58th Sony Open.
This is the second of two events on the PGA Tour to be held in the Hawaiian islands.
The other event was last week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions was held at Kapalua won by Jon Rahm.
The Sony Open will be the second event of the calendar year, but the 13th of the 2022-2023 wrap around season.
Two previous Sony Open winners Kevin Na (2021), and Cam Smith (2020) will not be in the field due to their defection to LIV Golf and subsequent suspension from the PGA Tour.
This year’s prize fund will receive a $400k bump over previous years.
The field will compete for a total purse of $7.9 million, with $1,422,000 going to the eventual champion.
That is up from the $1,350,000 that went to Hideki Matasuyama from the $7.5 million purse in 2022.
